Universidad de Guanajuato

The foundation of the University of Guanajuato goes back to the year 1732. Since then, the university adopted several names, until March 1945, when the rank of University was acquired as well as the name for which is now known.

With a population of nearly 34,000 students, today, the University of Guanajuato is present in 12 cities within the entity through four campuses and one high school college with ten high schools.

Enrollment profile

The enrollment profile describes the desirable characteristic of the applicants who wish to join an educational program at DCEA in terms of competencies, knowledge, skills, attitudes and values. The applicants must distinguish by the following characteristics:

  • Knowledge:General knowledge on economic-administrative sciences. Basic knowledge of English such as numbers, colors, alphabet, family members, events of the day, clothing, time, everyday objects, self-introduction and ask for things or services. Knowledge of the graduate profile of the desired educational program.
  • Skills:Ability to use basic mathematics and statistics in solving problems. Skill to work with abstract concepts. Skills to correctly use Spanish, both orallyt and written. Skill to comprehend readings. Skill to reason inductively and deductively from written material. Skill to understand the basic level of English.
  • Attitudes:Self-motivation. Possess initiative. Willingness to learn. Interest in contributing to regional and national development.
  • Values: Respect. Honesty. Solidarity.
Graduate profile

The graduate profile of the degree in Economy

  1. Implements the abstract thinking and propositional logic, in the planning and solution of problems of the public and private organizations, to ease the process of decision making.
  2. Handles the economic theory and the mathematical, statistical, economic and computing methods to analyze data and evaluate the social-economic phenomena.
  3. Explains the social-economic phenomena founded in the economic theory to place the analysis in a structured framework.
  4. Interprets the social-economic phenomena founded in statistical and econometric analysis, to contrast the theory and facts.
  5. Understands the social reality and regional, national and international economy, to enrich hers/his international vision.
  6. Applies the analytic criteria in the social-economic area, to offer a different and formal perspective where it is required.
  7. Knows the structures and function of the public, private, regional, national and international institutions, to widen the vision and apply their action as a professional in an institution.

  • Complete the corresponding syllabus.
  • Make among the chosen modalities by the Divisional Council: Thesis, Applied Work Project, Research Work, Professional Exercise, General Exam of Graduation from a degree and Academic excellence.
