The Bivalent Baccalaureate (BB), is a flexible educational program designed with competencies profile for the comprehension of the national and international environment, in which the student can select the learning units of the propaedeutic area between two outcome: Mechatronics or Science of Materials, each generates a larger number of options at the conclusion, since the student may continue with higher studies (university superior technician or major) or, integrate as technician in the labor market.
Throughout the education program there are activities such as: academic exchanges, 6-month stays in national and international institutions, learning foreign languages, intercultural fairs, observation or familiarization visits in transnational companies, among others.
The Bivalent Baccalaureate has the purpose to form technicians in High School with a sense of social responsibility, specialized in Mechatronic or Science of Materials with an international perspective, with the possibility of aperture to other terminal areas (biomedical or sustainable chemistry) according the needs of the environment, which allows the students to continue their degree studies in the referred specializations, as well as insert themselves in the labor market of the companies who demand a better trained profile.
The Bivalent Baccalaureate has a schooled modality, semi-annual periods and has a credit system.
The applicant for the BB must have the following features:
- Basic knowledge in Spanish, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- Skill to comprehend and solve situations that require the exercise of abstract reasoning.
- Basic domain of the English language.
The graduate from the Bivalent Baccalaureate will:
- Propose solutions to the productive processes and services through control tools for the automation that gives logistic advantages in the operations and reducing times and movements.
- Participate in research projects corresponding to the their discipline developed by professors at the Univesity of Guanjauato or other private or public institutions, in the social or preoducitve sector, which allow the technological innovation and widen their possibilities to enter another educational level.
- Handle the measurement systems for different types of materials who contribute with the assurance of the quality of the productive processes in a reliable way.
- Dominates a second language.
- Is engaged in the sustainable development, is creative, an entrepreneur, and humanist calling.
The specific competencies contributed for every area are:
Mechatronics:
- Operates and programs manual or automated machine-tools that allow agile and reliable processes.
Science of Materials:
- Appropriately handles chemical substances to participate in the industry processes.
- Adequately operates the analytic equipment and instruments involved in the Chemical insdustry that contribute in production quality.
Biomedics:
Identifies and distinguishes the offical norms for the correct usage of the medical equipment, understand its function and is capable to operate them.
- Knows the official norms of medical equipment operation.
- Understands the operation manuals of the medical equipment.
- Identifies, distinguishes and operate medical equipment.
- Helps and makes basic diagnosis of medical equipment.
- Posseses the necessary knowledge that allow the comprehension of the human body's biophysics.
Sustainable Chemistry:
Applies the basic principles of Physics and Chemistry for the analysis and monitoring of waste water treatment processes.
- Knows the official norms referent to the care and preservation of the environment.
- Understands the different stages in the processes of the waste water treatment plants.
- Knows and applies the different types of treatment (biological, physical and chemical, electrochemical and hybrids) for residual waters.
- Handles regulated sample techniques for residual water.
- Diagnoses the sources of residual water based in the results of the physical and chemical parameters of the samples.
The graduates from BB have the competences in several technological areas to incorporate as technicians in productive sectors, mainly in the automotive, metalmechanic and plastic industries which are the main economic agents in the state of Guanajuato.
The BB posseses a curricualr structre that eases the student mobility between school, it contributes to the interdisciplinary formation of the student, and propritiates the interaction between students of different educational programs of the University of Guanajuato and with other national and international institutions such as the National Schools of Technology of Nagaoka and Oyama in Japan, with which they have a collaboration agreement.
