Universidad de Guanajuato

The foundation of the University of Guanajuato goes back to the year 1732. Since then, the university adopted several names, until March 1945, when the rank of University was acquired as well as the name for which is now known.

With a population of nearly 34,000 students, today, the University of Guanajuato is present in 12 cities within the entity through four campuses and one high school college with ten high schools.

Campus Celaya-Salvatierra

It has degrees in the areas of health sciences, social sciences, administrative sciences and engineering.

It distinguishes for its growing offer of degrees tightly linked to the development within the zone

Campus has worked with organisms such as the “Comisión Económica para América Latina y El Caribe” (CEPAL), with the purpose to boost the development in the region.

Campus Irapuato-Salamanca

Has a nationally renowned offer in the areas of Engineering and Agricultural Science.

High-School College

Offers high school education in 10 distributed schools in 10 cities throughout the state and a Technological Baccalaureate with International Profile.

High schools of the university of Guanajuato have been historically important areas of opportunity and social equity for new generations.

As a result from the academic quality, the schools have obtained results above the national and state average in the evaluations.

The study programs focus in the student’s comprehensive development according to the new educational trends.

The formation given for the students considers the cultural, artistic, ecological, sport and social activities as a fundamental part of their comprehensive development.

Collegiate academic bodies where decisions relative to the institutional activity of the school will be made, honoring the attributions from the other authority organs. Their attributions and function will be defined in the Organic Statute. (chapter XII Article 37 from the Organic Law from the University of Guanajuato).

Academies

Is their duty, among others, the following attributions: establish the general guidelines of this level activities. Approve the Development Plan for the School submitted by its Director. Propose to the University General Council, the creation or suppression of academic programs. Approve the modification to the study programs. Propose to the Board of Directors, candidates for Director of the High School College. Propose to the School’s Director, candidates to run the schools based in the corresponding academic proposals. (Chapter X Article 34 from the Organic Law from the University of Guanajuato).

Collegiate academic bodies from the Divisions whose attributions are, among others, to issue the general guidelines for the academic functions to develop and their link with other divisions. Approve the Development Plan from the Division and hand it to the Campus Rector. Propose to the Campus University Council the creation, modification or suppression of the academic programs from the Divisions. Evaluate and approve the research lines from the Departments. Propose to the Board of Directors and Campus Rector, candidates for Division Director and Department Directors respectively. (Chapter VII Articles 27 & 28 from the Organic Law from the University of Guanajuato).

Is their Duty, among others, know and in its case, approve the Development Plan for the Campus; establish the general guidelines from the essential function from Campus; propose to the University General Council the creation or suppression of Divisions and Departments; approve the creation, modification or suppression of the academic campus from Campus; approve the modification of Divisions and Departments; propose to the Board of Directors candidates for Campus Rector. (Chapter V Article 24 from the Organic Law from the University of Guanajuato).
