The foundation of the University of Guanajuato goes back to the year 1732. Since then, the university adopted several names, until March 1945, when the rank of University was acquired as well as the name for which is now known.

With a population of nearly 34,000 students, today, the University of Guanajuato is present in 12 cities within the entity through four campuses and one high school college with ten high schools.

Aim

High school is a study cycle before higher education. Provides a formal education whose formative intentions are:

  • Offer a basic general culture that comprehends the aspects of science, human studies and technique, from where the fundamental elements are acquired to construct new knowledge.
  • Provide the knowledge, methods, techniques and necessary languages to enter higher studies and perform efficiently.
  • Develop the essential skills and attitudes to perform a socially useful productive activity.
  • Contribute the comprehensive development of the student.

Study Plan

The study plan for high school in the University of Guanajuato is a system of schooled teaching – art 21 & 22 from the Academic Statute – with obligatory assistance to class within the schedule and structures in two cores: Basic and propaedeutic.

The subjects group in the following knowledge areas and compose the study plan: Natural Sciences, Human Studies and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Communication, Administration, Arts, and Formative activities.
