Universidad de Guanajuato

The foundation of the University of Guanajuato goes back to the year 1732. Since then, the university adopted several names, until March 1945, when the rank of University was acquired as well as the name for which is now known.

With a population of nearly 34,000 students, today, the University of Guanajuato is present in 12 cities within the entity through four campuses and one high school college with ten high schools.

Rehearsals time and place:

1st cast: Thursday and Friday from 20:15 to 22:00 hours, Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00 hours.

2nd cast: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 20:15 to 22:00 hours.

House of the Folkloric Ballet, Positos #58, Downtown.

The Folkloric Ballet from the University of Guanajuato was founded between November 1985 and April 1986 with the purpose to rescue and preserve the ethnic-dance and musical process in the country. The group makes research and choreographic montages oriented to know, preserve and sustain the traditions from the state of Guanajuato and Mexico, as part of our cultural heritage.

Besides promoting and divulging the folkloric dance in the university community and society, the main activity of the group is to present dance programs and regional dances as an artistic expression.

Indispensable minimum technical requirements:

  • Open or closed theater, plaza, patio or auditorium.
  • Stage space: 12 x 2 m
  • Illumination: Ambient spotlights
  • Sound: Equipment with CD player, microphone.
  • Others: 2 wide dressing rooms near the presentation place, water.
  • Necessary transport to move costumes, props and members, besides the corresponding food.

Entry requirements:

  • Minimum experience of 5 active years as a dancer.
  • Slim build
  • Medical certificate
  • Previous audition (one-week class) for location in the group.
