Universidad de Guanajuato

The foundation of the University of Guanajuato goes back to the year 1732. Since then, the university adopted several names, until March 1945, when the rank of University was acquired as well as the name for which is now known.

With a population of nearly 34,000 students, today, the University of Guanajuato is present in 12 cities within the entity through four campuses and one high school college with ten high schools.

What is an extension and who grants it?

In a period no longer than 50% of the school period, that the Director of the Divison or High-School. In extraordinary situations, he grants students the necessary time to complete the requirements for enrollment or re-enrollment.

Can I request to enroll outside the stablished time in the academic calendar?

You can request to enroll out of time within the first ten days after the courses begin, and always in consideration of the principal of the division or high school, and there is a justified cause.

What is a subject registration?

A procedure in which a student in the program under the credit system, adds one or more subjects to the authorized initial ones in the study project.

What is subject dropping?

A procedure in which the student in the program under the credit system, suppresses one or more subjects of the authorized initial ones in the study project.

What is the enrollment cancelation?

A procedure in which the student temporarily suspends the exercise of rights and compliance of obligations.

How long do I have to register or drop a subject, and when can I cancel my enrollment?

The registration procedure can be done within the first ten days after the course began.

Dropping a subject can happen within 25% of the course duration.

Enrollment cancelation up until 50% of the school period.

Credentialing

The student credential is a document issued by the University of Guanajuato that identifies you as part of the university community and confirm every school cycle with the enrollment. It works as well as a debit card with Santander bank. Having your credential current gives you access to UG's facilities and services, identifies you as a student to receive discounts in public transportation and other external services.

You can see your academic history in the webpage https://www.dae.ugto.mx/frontDAE/ which will allow you to stay up-to-date with your school trajectory, and enroll online from your second enrollment.

Academic tutoring is the personal & academic companion process during the educational process to improve the academic development, solve school issues, develop study, work, reflexion and social coexistence habits. This companion happens mainly with a professor who will support you during your bachelor, and it complements with other activities the Tutoring Coordination from your Division organizes to address the identified needs in the students.

Tutoring considers five intervention dimensions:

Integration & Permanence

Allows you to incorporate to the institution and stay in during your bachelor and major, besides looking for those problems or situations that present in your time.

Academic performance

Seeks to provide environments that allow your learn to learn.

Professional development

Seeks you develop the competencies to exercise your professional practice.

Career development

This dimension seeks the student confirms the vocational interests in the professional field.

Personal Development

The dimension that integrates activities to boost your human development and promote social interaction with classmates, professors, etc.
